The very successful “Writer in Residence” program led by David Homel has ended. The experience was so memorable that we are providing access to all of David’s blog posts.
The Writer in Residence blog was updated weekly. In it, David explored the simplest and hardest question for a writer: how do stories start, and where do they come from?
“I encourage people to look into what’s closest to them – their families and neighbourhoods, and themselves – but also to far-flung places that might hold important questions for them. In the break-up of the former Yugoslavia, I saw echoes of what we are – and aren’t – experiencing in Montreal. What matters to you? What do you want to find out? What bugs you about the world? These questions help people find the story that’s important to them”.
