Am I speaking of the upcoming municipal elections?
No. Those candidates have been in the running for a while. But here, at the Online book club, it’s still possible to nominate a favourite book or one that you’d love to discover and share with a group.
We’re doing quite nicely in the fiction category, but over on the creative non-fiction side, it’s just a two-horse race! This won’t do. Remember; biographies fall into the latter category, as do memoirs and humorous or personal essays. And don’t forget other literary forms! Some of the best creative non-fiction published today exists in graphic novel form, such as Marjane Satrapi’s Persepolis, or Alison Bechdel’s Fun Home.
As we push further into the shorter, colder and darker days of fall, you can also take a look at the nominees so far, and try to figure out which you most easily imagine yourself reading all curled up in a cozy armchair, or snuggled under a comforter.
Don’t forget: the nomination period ends this week!
